Avery Cardoza's Gambler's Book ClubPosted By Thomas Chee - 03/07/16
Avery Cardoza began his gambling career underage in Las Vegas as a professional blackjack player beating the casinos at their own game and was soon barred from all casinos. In 1981, when even the biggest casinos refused him play, he founded Cardoza Publishing, which grew to be the largest and foremost gaming publisher in the world. Cardoza Publishing is the home of many of the giants in the gambling world, including Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Johnny Chan (“Rounders”), Vanessa Rousso (2nd 2015 “Big Brother”) and Mike “The Mouth” Matusow. The Cardoza library, distributed around the world and translated into more than a dozen languages, includes more than 200 gaming titles and sales of more than 10 million books.
Avery Cardoza purchased the legendary 50-year-old Gambler’s Book Club in 2010, keeping alive the largest and most famous gambling bookstore in the world and merged that with his next purchase the iconic Gambler’s General Store (gamblersgeneralstore.com) in downtown Las Vegas. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Cardoza currently makes his home in Las Vegas, Nevada.
