Our trip from Las Vegas begins early as we travel north through the Great Basin desert landscape peppered with mountains, rivers and rare irrigated green pastures. Continuing on we pass through the Dixie of Utah, St. George, known for its cotton growing past and cottonwood-lined streets today.
Once we arrive in Bryce Canyon National Park at approximately 11 am, our tour continues with brief stops at various overlooks and trailheads. Other stops may include the museum, visitor center, Bryce Canyon Lodge, and the many easy and challenging hiking trails this high plateau country offers.
Bryce's exotic landscape is transformed by its seasonal changes, especially in winter. So finally, you ask what are hoodoos? Wind and water over time have shaped and sculpted rock to form this pinnacle or odd-shaped looking geologic feature. You can see these wind-carved wonders on many of the trails and overlooks within the park. We'll have time for casaul walks along the rim or a longer hike into the amphitheater. After enjoying the parks' beauty whether by hike or just relaxing, we depart for Las Vegas around 4:00 pm.
Bryce Canyon is open all year, but as you might imagine with any high-altitude area, conditions and sights may vary depending on the season. The weather is warmest between May and October. The rock formations and cliffs are arguably at their most beautiful when snow covered in winter and springtime. Whatever time of year you choose to visit the park we hope you'll be impressed with the grandeur of Bryce Canyon. |
