WHAT CAUSES PLUMBING ISSUES?

There are many things that can go wrong with plumbing. Some are easliy resolved while others require extreme measures. Piping is placed underground and inside walls. This sometimes leads to digging up the floor or grounds, or tearing out a wall. Once this occurs, you have two fixes that you have to tend to. Here are a few reasons why plumbing problems can happen to you.

Rusted/Old Pipes: Before the 1950's, metal galviniezed pipes were used is residential construction. As time passed, the pipes began to rust from the inside out causing unsafe drinking water & corrosion build up which hindered water flow. Now building code requires plumbers to use copper & plastic CVC piping to eleiminate the possiblity of metal pipes causing health and plumbing issues.

Clogged Drains: No one wants to go through clogged drain issues. It can eventually become a wet mess! This is usually caused by hair buildup or other items that were not made to travel through your pipes. If enough build up occurs, the pipes can eventually start to swell and possibly bust at the pipe seams. So it's best to pay attention to what actually goes down your drains.

Frozen Pipes: Frozen pipes usually occur when the weather drops to freezing tempuratures. This causes the water in the pipes to freeze, expand, and rupture under pressure. As prevention, place insulation around your pipes to prevent freezing and avoid huge plumbing repair costs.

Backed Up Toilets: A plumber's worst nightmare. This can be a dangerous fix for plumbers for two reasons: sewage, and snaking the pipe. In most cases, a backed up toilet can be resolved by simply using a household plunger. But sometimes the situation calls for more. Snaking the sewage line is sometimes the only way to clear the backup. This can be dangerous for plumbers because of sanitation issues, and the possibilty of their snake machine malfunctioning and causing injuruy. No one said plumbing was an easy job!
