Title: Paymon\'s Mediterranean Cafe And Market

First things first: Walking through the doors at Paymon's is like stepping through some warp in the time space continuum and ending up in a nice restaurant somewhere near Algiers. The atmosphere is very authentic save for the American colloquiums painted on the walls although they are painted in a very Mid-Eastern style. The interior designs of both the restaurant and the Hookah Lounge are outstanding and certainly add to enjoyment of the dining experience at Paymon's.

We started our evening with some very tasty specialty drinks namely the Camel's Breath and the Babylon Spice which was particularly good. As appetizers go, the Shrimp, Artichoke, and Spinach Dip which is served with warm pita style bread is scrumptious. The Athens Fries, which are advertised as addictive, weren't quite that good but were much better than average. The entrees that we ordered were served with Basmati rice and Mediterranean vegetables which I assume is authentic but if it isn't it should be. The Baked Kibbe was positively delicious and the proportion was well past adequate.

The Broiled Kabob Trio was also large enough for an automatic doggie bag request and was well prepared and presented but not equal to the kibbe in taste satisfaction. The Baklava which is made fresh daily by the owner's mom is wonderful and a fine finish to a very good meal. The service was outstanding and noteworthy due to the outward happiness and contentment of the wait staff. I am sure that feeling flows from the top down as the management was visible and working right alongside the servers, and available to the customers which is not always the case.

Paymon's offers a "Power Lunch" that comes with a guarantee of in and out within a half an hour and they are open late with a special late night menu. The dining room is smoke free and due to the newly passed non smoking law the Hookah Lounge is tobacco free which is about as oxymoronic as it gets. The selection of smokable herbs that are available seemed pleasant but through no fault of their own, it just loses something in the translation. Paymon's is a pretty unique place to enjoy a fine Middle Eastern flavored meal and a lot of other things too.
We enjoyed our meal there and I am sure that you will also. There are two locations of Paymon's on opposite sides of the valley so the convenience is there no matter where
