Tiffanys Cafe Las Vegas
With implosions, redevelopment and expansion
running rampant in the Las Vegas tourist
corridors, the natives who are nostalgic for
reminders of the city's past are running out of
landmarks. Perhaps that's why Tiffany's Cafe (formerly known as Liberty Cafe), a
24-hour diner inside a White Cross Drugs, has
been romanticized by the local populace into the
Great American Dining experience. Those
individuals seeking a classic '50s-style lunch
counter setting are headed for disappointment.
There is little that could be described as
picturesque about its three booths and dozen-or-so seats lining a drab counter. But the food is
good, not to mention cheap, and like the decor,
it hasn't changed in 35 years. Day or night, Tiffany's loyal clientele can be found chowing
down on corned beef hash, pork chops, chicken
fried steak, bacon burgers, double-vanilla
malteds or their semi-famous Greek omelet. From
the right angle you can almost see their
waistlines expanding. Those in search of
the "real" Las Vegas (if such a thing ever
existed) might get a glimpse of it here, but the
neighborhood gets dicey at night so be careful.
