Starlight, Star bright, first star I see tonight

This past weekend you may have noticed a beautiful sunset beaming from the sky, something that NASA refers to as the “Hunter’s Moon.” Otherwise known as the Travel Moon, Dying Grass Moon, and sometimes Blood Moon or Sanguine Moon.

It’s a fact that the most common ways to track the seasons in ancient times, was to monitor the different seasons, by depending on the lunar month rather than the solar year.  That is actuality is 12 months in our modern calendar is based on. I personally know it as a Blood Moon.  Every three years we get to see this stunning star shining above us. Closest to the September equinox is how the Harvest Moons’ name was inherited and it sure does love up to its name.

Fun fact: Some years have 13 Full Moons which is where the Blue Moon was born. The difference of the 13th full moon, is that the Blue Moon is between a traditional full moon and the Hunter. A full moon requires the Sun and Moon to be perfectly aligned on the exact opposite ends of the world. The Hunter Moon is so close to bright, enormous stars that the color changes the color.
