The State of Nevada Employees Association is a union of and for Nevada State Employees. SNEA was founded in 1953 by a group of state workers who wanted to pass a merit system for state employees. They accomplished that the same year and the organization has been in operation ever since. SNEA is affiliated with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, the largest union within the AFL-CIO with over 1.3 million members.
